oooooooooohhhhh CRAP
i just put my new used engine in my car and i just got it running to day and i took it out for a spin and i stoped at a stop sign took off and all off a sudden the throttle stuck wide open and hit 8 grand and just stayed there so i just shut the engine off and coasted into my friends drive way poped the hood and a conecter blocked the throttle open so i moved it out of the way and started it back up and it wouldnt go past 2,000 rpms so i was wondering if anyone knew what is the matter
i remember reading some where that the rev limiters mess up sometimes

When I first got my car it wouldn't go past 5k. It was the TPS, now it goes all the way. I don't think we have rev limiters, at least mine doesn't. The only think that I know of it a redline buzzer. I could by wrong, but check the TPS.
something that will actually stop your engine at 7700. I take mine past 8 all the time. Maybe it is up there past 8500-9. Or maybe mine is removed. Oh well sorry for the mix up.

it just went up to 8 and just kinda off stayed there and now it wont go past 2 . i dont know it might of went higher but i dont now because its a 88 and it only shows 8 on the tack
wow that sux, but it worth it to check the TPS, and check out all TB components.
Some one confirm this rev limiter thing. Is it: series 4 doesn't have one, but series 5 do?
I know my honda had one. I would just bounce off of it. I bet you wish that you had one, so that it wouldn't have gone past 8k rpm?

throttle sticking open is a "bad" thing. The school's Formula SAE car was at an autocross we were hosting, and the throttle return spring broke on a semi-straightaway, the guy didn't know it (he was full on the gas), hit the brakes for the hairpin, not much help, locked up the front tires, tried to turn but couldn't (he was effectively riding on skis), the rear tires probably didn't lock up at all, didn't instinctively hit the clutch (two-pedal motorcycle-like system with a hand operated clutch), skidded about 100-150 feet, hit a curb head on, then hit a 2 foot high cement wall with 4"x4" steel post fencing within it, went THROUGH/over the steel fence and down 10 feet to the ground. He walked away. you should have seen what happened to the metal posts, they were totally screwed, and the car was mangled.. He was EXTREMELY blessed that day.
To (hopefully) prevent this from happening in the future, they're going to a 3-pedal setup now (so you hit the clutch if that happens), and I also suggested as a failsafe, to run a current through the throttle return spring, as a signal to the ignition system so that if it snaps, the ignition cuts out and no harm done.
