These cars are so old now that there is no telling what the previous owner installed, so the model type doesn't really tell you if your car has an LSD. An easy way to identify an LSD is to look for the yellow tag on the fill plug that says "LSD". Now whether or not your LSD still works is another story, lol.

There is a way to check by jacking up your car and spinning the tires, but I dont know exactly how to check I just know you can check it.

There are two easy ways to check if your LSD works.
1. Jack it up in neutral, turn one rear wheel, and see if the other turns in the same direction. If it does this = LSD works. If they turn different directions = LSD clutches are burned out.

2. Do a big F*&%ing break-stand!! - if you burn both tires = LSD is working, if only one = LSD clutches are burned out.

That's it.

man.. has this not been covered to death??? The search function is found in the upper right hand corner of this page...

as Evil says many cars have been modified since new, but new the following cars came with a factory LSD:

the 86-88 GXL
the 87-91 Turbo II
the 88 GTU
the 89-90 GTUs (note the small "s")

No other cars came standard or optional from the factory with a LSD.

Neither of those methods will work on a fluid type LSD as found on the 89-90 GTUs and the 89-91 T2
