one to one gear
one to one gear
im sick of searching with no results.
i need to know which gear is the one to noe (ie. in my 1st gen, 5th gear matches with the speed as follows: 2k rpm = 40mph, 3k = 60, 4k = 80 etc.)
i believe my speedo is off, but i dont know how much.

no.
edit:
To be more specific, 1:1 is always 1:1, it's the ratio between the gearbox and the engine, the gearbox spins the axle at the same speed as the engine turns, and therefore it can NEVER be affected by the wheel or tire size. this does not mean the wheels spin the same since you also have a differential that has gears that affect the ratio.

Think about this...
(Numbers are not real world.)
If the wheel has a rolling circumference of 100 inches, for every rotation of the rear wheel, it's going to go 100 inches.
If the wheel has a rolling circumference of 50 inches (HALF of the above), for every rotation of the rear wheel, it has only gone HALF the distance versus the above example.
The trans still thinks both cars went the same distance - one rotation of the rear wheel.
The rear diff still thinks both cars went the same distance - one rotation of the rear wheel.
This is the reason why you need to keep tire diameters (thus, tire circumferences) similar to stock; once you start to change this significantly, you get speedo error.
Please stop posting such misinformation.
It's a bannable offense according to the forum rules.

I feel stupid, I totally missed that it was in regard to speedo calibration. Ignore my last post.
I was thinking he meant that the ratio would change with different wheel size.
Another reason to never post.
