one more tranny question...

okie, a t56 is gonna be too costly, so i may end up with an fd tranny...

who has done this?
will the t2 bellhousing bolt up so i can keep the 2nd gen pressure plate?

will the driveshaft fit; do i have to get it cut, or are the splines different?

will the mount/crossmember bolt in, use the 2nd gen, use the 3rd gen? or make one??

muchas thank you

I tried and the FD tranny will bolt up but thats about it. I was just told that you're fine with a TII trans and to not waste time with what a pain in the *** it is to mount a FD trans in a FC.

A GTU tranny???

All Non turbo coupe trannys are pretty much the same, only top gear changed in 87.5 to a .697 instead of the .711 (found on the 86-87.5).

.697?????
PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!

everyone says not to do that cuz i'll break it....same thing they said about my n/a diff--which i've had in there for 2+ years (300+rwhp) and it's still going strong.

what's top gear on the s4 turbos? .763 or .736?

and that is found in the options and standard features sticky thread at the top of this section

The factory manual only covers a single year... try again...

Now looking through again my stuff it does say that the 88 was .762 for top gear, for the Turbo (R-type) trannys, but that in 89 it dropped to the .71 (which probably means the 87 and 87.5 was also a .762).

what i've read in the 87, 88, and 91 manuals is .762, .762, .736 respectively.

whatever...i wonder if i could find a crackhead tranny shop that could just put the n/a 5th gear in a turbo tranny--then i'd have the best of both worlds.
