OMP Malfunction?

I have a S4 N/A with the mechanical OMP on it. Since putting an open exhaust system on my car I have been doing a lot of high rpm shifting. I have noticed a rather large cloud of smoke behind me sometimes that is blue oil smoke. The cloud usually forms when I let off the throttle. I know it will be there if I take a somewhat cold engine past 4k but today I was pulling out of a parking lot with a warm engine and something odd happened. Smoke between the 1 to 2 shift. Then between the 2 to 3 shift a lot of smoke came out and didn't stop until I got back on the throttle. At first I thought I smoked my enigne but I wasn't missing any power and there was hardly any smoke shifting away from the next stop. Do the mechanical OMP's break often? I am about to covnvert it to inject 2 cycle oil so should I just buy another one cuz this ones probably on its way out?

Check to see that the OMP actuator rod is moving up and down smoothly when you open and close the throttle. It shouldn't stick or hang up on anything.

Mechanical OMP are Almost bullet proof...........with the exception of the "o"ring on the lever arm. I've replaced that o'ring on three of my engines due to worn o'rings on the lever shaft.

Take heed on the advice about the actuating rod hanging up. I deliberetly wired my omp lever to full up and drove it for a day or so. If memory serves, when hot the engine had some smoke at idle. Return of the lever to the normal position removed the trace of smoke.

If that O ring near the actuator is bad will the unit leak oil?

Yes. That's why I replaced them. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...hmentid=142077
this is the lever. The o'ring is on it, near the lever end.
