Hey guys I was driving around earlier doing errands and then my radio started cutting on and off on and off on and off. and my power windows were going really slow. then I looked at my voltage and it was starting to go under 8 volts. and my power steering isnt working. any idea what this could be? new battery perhaps?

 

Bad or disconnected alternator

 

I Just went out and looked and I dont think it is disconnected. What would cause it go bad just out of the blue?

 

you blew your alternator belt..look Under the hood!

Do you know why my alternator would just kick the bucket out of no-where?

 

Hottest time in the summer or coldest in the winter are the hardest times of the year for the battery and alt.

 

Well i bought one from a forum member yesterday, hopefully it gets here soon and all is fixed!

edit: Is it weird that my powersteering would cut out with my alternator dieing or is that normal on a 7?

 

hmmm, i wonder where power steering gets its "power" from.......

 

A used alt is not a good choice at all...

And the power steering stepper motor or power steering computer both could fail on low voltage (under 9 volt) situations. Most cars work that way.
