Omg My Car Runs!!!11!

I just did a one afternoon engine install in my driveway, and my car actually runs! it still smokes, but most of the smoke has cleared away, and now it only smokes when I rev it. I will probobly post some pics and try to get a video if anybody cares. I now go to drink to my car's health. That is all.

It was definitely an indescribable feeling of joy when I got my car to run for the first time.

Congratulations!

Here's a video of my amazingly smokey idle. I think most of the smoke is due to the fact that I used to have a horrible coolant leak and coolant was dripping out of my exhaust :P.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lg92Se0pulg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lg92Se0pulg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Here are some pics of the engine in the car, and some out of the car. It's a fresh rebuild by rotary resurrection with a streetport. the turbo is a brand new s5 turbo rebuilt by BNR as a stage 4.

ultra wheel gap because there's no engine.

How's the Rotary Resurrection rebuild? How does the car feel/run?
I'm considering the same type of rebuild as your through him
Did He document the rebuild process with photos? He does that.

yea he documented the rebuild process with photos at pretty much every major step. I'm happy with the rebuild as a whole as long as the smoke clears. I think now that the main reason it's smoking is because I added some 2 stroke to the gas tank because the OMP oil lines were empty at startup, but I think I added too much... There's only a quarter tank left so I'll try adding more gas to it once I get insurance again and see if the smoke goes away. however the idle is rock solid, and there are absolutely NO bubbles in the coolant lines. I duno what's causing all that smoke, but I hope it ******* goes away. Other than that... I'd hit it...

well guys, I may have celebrated too soon. The smoke refuses to clear, and there is oil in my intake, and dripping from the wastegate. I don't know why yet, but Hopefully the problem isn't that serious.

the turbo is a (almost) brand new BNR stage 4. I'd say about 6 months old, and only about 50 miles on it and only 8psi of boost maximum. It's not second hand either, I had it rebuilt. There is no endplay whatsoever.

Here are some pics I took of where the oil is. I think it is also worth noting that there is no oil leaking on either side of the exhaust manifold.

some in the top mount. There was also some on the compressor, but it was clear and difficult to see.

you can see where oil is leaking out of the middle of the turbo.

and a lot more from the waste gate.

looks like maybe you have a turbo internal issue. oil in the charge pipe is a pretty good indicator that your turbo is the cause of all the smokey goodness. i'd take it off and bring it to a shop to check out.

could need a restricter pill in your feed line as it could be getting too much oil so its leaking out of the seals.

ah i forgot about this thread lol.

the restrictor pill fixed the smoking problem after I put it in and drove for about 150 miles at 2000-3000 rpms. This burned off all the oil that was left in the intake system after I cleaned it with paper towels and some gasoline.

I now have a weird electrical problem that gives me fuel cut at 4000 rpms. when I pulled the fuse for the gauge cluster the rpm when I get fuel cut changed to 6000rpm.

The only conclusion I can come to is that something in the cluster circuit is shorted. I got a new gauge cluster and I'll install it this weekend, maybe that will do something. I'm also going to try disconnecting the sensors the cluster is attached to and see if I can find the culprit. any body else have an idea?
