OMG, I think I got my TPS set finally
after 2 weeks of almost not being able to drive the car at all due to bad idle problems and bucking and other stuff, I think I got it set.
car starts and idles great with lights on or off and accelerates good.
I set it too 1 volt I believe and it worked with the used tps I bought. I am so happy right now. hope the dang thing starts later after it is cold.
I didnt think I was ever going to get it running right.
thanks to all you guys for the help.
I do love a good running RX7

I used a multimeter. I dont remember now what it was. I had directions from 3 sources at once. I will double check it tommorrow. right now I dont remember. I do remember the range on the meter showed variation from 1 to 5 from open to closed throttle. does that make sense? I remember setting the tps to 1.00 whatever it was ...and then I tried to start it and it worked .
all my other problems were almost gone after that.
again, I dont remember right now. tired...

belive it or not i have no tps.
it honestly runs better w/out one.. gone threw 3 tps's never ran right.
ripped it off one day and ran better than ever b4.
has a slight bog sometimes at 4k but verry rarely and it idles like **** most of the time.
but way better than b4. I would like to get it figured out still but only 1 rotory mechanic in my town and he is a bitch.

At idle it should be approx 1vdc. The .91vdc is close, but when you go full open throttle the voltage should be approx 4.5vdc or so.
Don't check/set the tps unless the car is fully hot or you lift up on the fast idle cam to make the cam come off the roll pin.

If checking the validity of the tps, using the resistance method described in the fsm, then yes, it makes a big difference. With the tps connector disengaged, and looking at the tps side of the connection.....hold the plug with the single blade at the twelve o'clock position and the two side by side blades at the six o'clock position. Put one lead of the meter on the top blade and the other meter lead on the bottom right blade.
With a fully hot engine at the idle position (engine not running), the reading should be approx 1K ohms. Now fully open the throttle and the reading should change to 5K ohms plus or minus 1K ohms.
A simpler way is to leave the tps connector connected and the Key to the ON position. Put the meters negative lead to the battery neg or another good ground spot. Push the Positive lead of the meter up the back of the green/red wire. The output of the tps should be approx 1vdc. If not, then adjust the tps screw til it reads 1 vdc. Done. Make sure the engine is fully warmed up as in HOT, before doing this setting. The throttle linkage and therefore the tps reading will change as the engine cools down. Therefore only set the tps if the engine is up to operating temperature.
There is a free download of the fsm availabe. See the fuel section.
