omg hell no..................
well my mileage varies quite a bit...i kept really acurate records for a couple thousand miles noting what kinds of driving i did. it came to an average of 13-14mpg in city (LA traffic) and 25-26mpg on open freeway (trips to Las Vegas/San Diego etc). with my mix of city/freeway driving i get an average of about 17mpg overall.

my city/highway driving averages out around 26 or 27, about half and half. I kind of like this new engine
My other N/A only got about 18 average (completely stock).

1) Fill the gas tank completely, and zero the trip meter on the odometer.
2) Drive a certain distance (more is better).
3) Fill the gas tank completely, and record how many gallons you put in the car.
4) Read the trip meter.
5) Your gas mileage is: Trip Meter Miles in Step 4 / Gallons Filled Up in Step 3
I get about 18MPG on a good day. I'm N/A and drive 74 miles a day(roundtrip) for work. I fill up at half way every other day. Altrhough it only takes about 4-6 gallons so I think my gauge is off.
about 20 of those miles is city and the rest highway.
Those Hwy miles are speeds in excess of 85 though.

OK, I'm going to try this one more time... You cannot base your car's gas mileage on a "tank" of gas. The reasons for this:
1) The 86-88 and 89-92 models have different sized gas tanks.
2) The fuel gauge does not accurately portray a "1/2" tank, "1/4 tank", or anywhere else in between. It's not even scaled accurately.
3) I doubt that you folks are filling up at the gas station, and then running the tank completely dry to determine a full "tank" of gas.
The 2Gen RX-7 is rated at 16-17 mpg city, and 23-25 mpg highway, depending on the year and model. Averaged out you are looking at 20-21 mpg. Sticky/small tires, tired engines, and lead-foot drivers will be worse, while large/thin tires, standalone EMS equiped engines, and short-shifting light-footed drivers will be better.
The base model 2Gen cars are fantastic for a base model sportscar. The smaller brakes and wheels are not a liability until the car hits the racetrack, so it makes an excellent street car, which is where 95% of us drive anyway.

I've just about, if not, have doubled my mileage since I went aftermarket EMS.
I used to fill up every 2.5-3 days...now it's around 5-7 depending on if I make extra trips out to the store or so.

I thought I had one of the lowest miles SE. 70K for me.
it's amazing how fast you lose gas going 100+ on the freeway. i was driving for a good 30 minutes at 90 in 5th and my gas needle didn't drop at all, then i saw a big stretch to get going on (about 1 mile) so i decided to see how fast i could get
, at the end of the strip, i'd lost 1/8th of a tank noticeably. too bad i wasn't even halfway through my 107 mile trip
