crud build up or old gasket.

To get the really stuck ones off you may need a wrench like a slip wrench or something to get more leverage.

Yeah, I did... It won't budge. I think the guys at walmart who changed my oil last (I woulda done it, but we had no pans to put the oil in) put it on too hard

OK.. it is NOT coming off. Whether I use my hands, and all the strength I have, or I use that wrench Icemark said.... It won't budge... Any other suggestion??

Large set of channel-lok pliers after the engine is warm. Worked on every car that came through my oil change.

If you are worried about breaking the cap, you can always detach the filler neck from the engine. Then you can put the whole thing in a vise and really give it hell!

go for a hard run and get things nice and hot... spray some penetrating lube under the the oil cap onto the where it meets the filler neck... give it hell...

doesn't work? repeat above.

worked for me... for some reason i couldn't undo the cap after i changed the oil last... and I usually don't tighten it that much

I know this sounds sexist, but get a guy with big hands to help you.. Seriously, the guys at the local oil changers think it's funny to do this to people.

and for immediate oil needs, you may be able to stick a long funnel down onto the oil dipstick opening and fill that way..

take your hood off and actually climb inside the engine bay. put one foot on the one of the strut towers and the other on top of the fan shroud to maximize your leverage. then start reefing on it like there was no tomorrow.

I dunno... it's not that bad, but I really don't feel like being flammed or whatever for saying what I did. Twisted knows what I did, and I'm still wondering why he hasn't replied... lol

Lefty loosens righty tighty-- Just kidding. You have enough common sense to know that already.

In times of desperation, oil can be added through the dipstick with a funnel. Never run two quarts low.

I believe the only reason why I *WAS* running ~2quarts low was because I could NEVER get that stupid oil cap off... I've been trying for a week.
