ok to switch ecu's?

hey fellas, car is a all stock 1988 convertable manual.
had a fire yatta yatta you should all know about this... burnt some harness wiring. bought an 1986 base model rx7 for parts i chopped engine wiring harness that was burnt up in the vert from the engine bay up... attatched the engine wiring harness fromt the 86.. and am also using the 1986 injectors and the 86 n326 ecu... my question is with the 86 injectors still in the engine would it be ok for me to put my n338 or w/e the stock ecu is for the 88 vert back in? =) does it really even matter anyways?

lol

thanks,
-Allen
