ok we all know one of the best mods to a rx7 esp. an na is exaust. well what if you turboed the exaust so as to force more air out there by forcing mor air in as well. and if my understanding is correct that would help your top end better than a turbo would. what do you think? anyone tryed it?

Are you talking about a rear mounted turbo? I read a thread on this a while back...some modern muscle cars use them I think...camaros maybe?

no not one that runs off an exaust, and it wouldnt really be a turbo, it just instead of pulling air in it forces air out

im fluent in n00b. im pretty sure hes talking about some device that would somehow force more exhaust out of the tailpipes, and in his mind this would force more air into the engine as welll...ah hell i cant even explain this, the idea is too obscure....oh okay its like scavenging, but mechanical. ah screw it. i understand it in my head and it would never work because of a little thing i like to call physics and bernoullis principle.

mmm, NO.

the exhaust is what POWERS a turbo's spinning blades, so unless you have some other way of powering a turbo, a turbo does nothing more to exhaust than block it somewhat and hinder its ease of flow.

now there are rear mounted turbo kits out there that are similar to a normal turbo kit but the difference is that the turbo is mounted way far back on the exhaust, all the way back to the muffler... this is common on newer musclecars, like GTO's and Firebirds where engine bay space is ata premium.

This is not rare. Its actually ben done many times. Its more common with the old school gear heads. Its like the turbo is rear mounted actually drawung ir behind the exhaust instead of in front of the induction. All in all though its probably alot mor aggravating mods than a modern turbo with thodays cars

ok i guess it would be more like a super charger, i dont know how it would be powered but the whole idea is that it doesnt pull in it pushes exaust out

oh, i "get it" ......... like putting a vacuum cleaner on the tailpipe to suck more air out than the motor is......... wouldnt work (i dont think) ......all exhaust is is the waste from the what the motor uses..... somehow force-sucking it out wouldnt make the car go faster, actually, in my mind, i think it would totally do the opposite...... the motor needs more air/fuel to make more power........ not something to suck the exhaust out........... all an aftermarket exhaust does is open up the exhaust so it flows more smoothly, thats why it produces more power( the factory one is very restrictive)...... ...

I get what he's saying, he thinks if you force air out of the exaust it will somehow suck more air into the intake of the engine. It would never work though, if you managed to pull it off all you'd do is create a vacume that would suck the gasses out of the rotor housing faster.
