ok rookie question..plz help

ok..i am a current owner of a celica GT..but i want to buy another project car..A 2nd gen..im sure that this car will have more potential than my celica. Besides ROTARY has always been known for its power..

ok for the Question..i plan to buy a TII or Na..whatever comes cheaper at the time..but the question is how easy is it to get to the 300-400 hp range on a 13B..and what hp level will i start to shoot out flames..

by the way no i am not a drift bandwagon jumper..or a F&F ricer..just new to rotary..

help me out please..
thanks..

Bigger turbo....better fuel system.....boost controller...and all that other good stuff and I don't see why you cant hit 300-400 HP. I haven't tried but I am sure those are the basic things to get HP, of course not the only ones though.

as for the flames, i saw this car on ebay motors mentioning that his 2nd gen shoots flames when shifting at high rpms. might wanna ask that guy. unfortunately i don't remember the url but you can do a search. good luck for your search as i am still saving up for a 2nd gen of my own.

If you want Hp buy a tII, NA's are awesome, but lack power potential. As for flames, turbo back exhaust w/ no cat will get you there.

It would be very difficult to get to the 300-400 HP range in a N/A, but reasonable if you have money to get a Turbo into that range. You would need some rather expensive parts to get it however.

Remember as in all cars, that reliability drops with major HP increases.

welcome to the forum, open vented BOV's and cat-less exhausts can get u big flames, must i say, the oil change is the easiest mod to do and the best mod for engine longevity!

I've got an NA, and it is almost impossible to spin the tires. I just went on a drift session, and it wasn't that fun, NA's are fun when it's wet but have no power. get a TII, they are great fast cars. and if you like the idea of a rotary engine, you'l love owning and working on one.

ok look--you need to decide exactly what it is you want to accomplish before you start laying out money.....on one hand you say whatever is cheaper, and on the other hand you say you want power. Keep in mind that you can't have both at the same time unless you want a car than breaks down all the time!

CHEAP
FAST
RELIABLE

now.....pick TWO of the above, cuz you can't have all three. I would say that before you buy ANYTHING you should look into what is involved first. The majority of 2nd gens need more work than a lot of the other cars out there--I have an 86 NA and it only has 90k original miles on it, but it IS 18 years old! and mine is stock...once you start putting in more power mods your reliability can suffer. I am not trying to discourage you from getting a 7, but if you go into it witn those expectations, all you will end up with is a lot of headaches, a car you can't use, and money spent.

You are better off starting with a TII than trying to put a JSpec in a non-turbo. Find a blown TII to swap it into.
