Ok... Mod question :)

Going to look around the junk yard for some RB headers...

besides that i'm going to call around some exhaust shops and see how much they would price to do a cat back 3".. while I provide my own muffler.. Thinking of getting it from dynomax...going single exhaust ...

would this be a good idea?

Should I go ahead with the headers first... or the cat back?

What I'm afraid is the fact I autoX and if I replace the headers now - it will take me out of the class I'm in. So I'm not sure....

im not sure if youll need 3 inch pipeing. 2.5 or 2 may be better for an n/a fc. the header makes good power but is extremely loud. and it will take you out of stock class in auto-x.

A header won't give you an enormous increase in power. You get alot of power from just ditching the cats. And 3" piping is alot for an NA but shouldn't hurt if your well modded.

I'm not well modded now - but soon will be... after I get done with everything. Will it harm anything... if I just have the headers and cats done?

EDIT: he goes to school with Steve.. So he knows the rx-7 gain out on Boyd street.

Christi,

I got a single exit exhaust, 2 1/2" pipe, mandrel bent (mild steel tho), with a magnaflow muffler, from the RB header on back, for ~300 out the door.

SS pipe costs more, but in my case, I won't drive the car enough to bother it I think (besides, probably will switch classes for E-production or ITE in a year or two)

I wouldn't say $120 is cheap for a used header from a junkyard. Racing beat headers only cost $187 brand new.

well true. maybe i'm getting myself mixed up, but I know he got the RB header.. and something else done.. so that's probably why it was $120.

Good question.

i got that header for $120 new not used, and the car that i put it on was an 88se that was otherwise stock. the owner told me afterwards that his car acted like a whole other car after the install. he loved it.
