Ok, it's time someone comes up with a poll like this...

Coming from asia, I've noticed that American racing has a very heavy emphasis on straight-line performance...so here's the question: Which of the following do you prefer?

Drag-type (head to head, straight-line) racing?

OR:

Canyon (twisty roads, time trial) racing?

Tough to say....I enjoy both speed and exceptional handling.

RX-7 fits both bills quite nicely.

I'd take a compound, decreasing radius turn anyday...

Street racing sometimes, but ripping up curvy Texas country roads at night is my relax time. Rex's love sideways (and 360's too!

Drifting, drifting, drifting, drifting, drifting, drifting, driftin, drifting. I couldn't say anyting but that cause draging is for pussies cause they don't know how to control their cars. Oh and Initial D rules. The real skill is being able to control your car like you control your body, when this is accoplished come and race me, nut until.

If I only liked drag racing I'd have a Grand National and if I only liked turns, I'd have an N/A.

Drifting a turbo just takes a little practice.

Have you even driven a TII?

Everyone talks **** about better drifting in an NA, well all the FC's in Japan are TIIs. Aren't they the drift kings?

Yo,

Canyons, of course. My best analogy for trying to drag race an RX-7:

Using a sniper rifle for knocking down stone walls.

It's the wrong tool for the job.

Your best analogy sucks. A sniper rifle would not be good at knocking down a stone wall, and RX-7s are quite good at drag racing. Why does it bother some guys so much that our cars are fast on both types of tracks?

Of course the poll can't have an in between option, Jeez. Well, when and if I get my seven, I'll will probably try a bit of both and stick with whichever I like better. I am leaning towards being a drifter though, looks like more fun, and requires more skill. Oh and Rico, Non-turbo FC's may be better to learn how to start drifting, but I bet once you get better you'll be wanting a turbo. Namely a ball bearing one for better spool, and you'll be able to do some mad chokudori's.

There's no comparison to driving in the twisties up here, but then again, not everyone lives in the foothills of Colorado. There's so many canyons around here, there's no time to drag.

Doesn't really help that trying to drag on gravel covered roads filled with pot holes at over 5200ft in a n/a. Maybe the TII swap down the road will change my mind a bit.

Yo,

UniqueTII: It's called Anger Management. Chill bro. Go break some motor/tranny mounts or chew up your 2nd gear synchro at the drag strip. That should make you feel better.

I have never broken anything at the track. I could have bet my college tuition that you were going to pull the reliability punches next...get some new material.

You only break **** at the strip if you can't drive or have copious amounts of power (400+).

Yo,

I'm not going to pull anything, I'm just trying to figure out why you would think my apt analogy "sucks". The RX-7 was designed to handle, handle, and handle s'more. That's what they're famous for and I think, do best.

Since you've been to the track, what's your best time?

Vosko just pulled a 13.7X in a TII. I saw a Integra Type R on drag radials pull a 13.8X at Sac Raceway. No juice, all motor.

Would you say Integra Type R's are made more for handling, or drag racing?

*shrug*

Well I wouldn't say the analogy was bad but I would have to say that was a bad comparison with the Integra and Vosko's car, how do you know he didn't have 250+hp from that already 200hp engine? Being FWD with drag tires would almost be comprable to a RWD car with street tires.
