Ok im kinda confused...

ive been studying various things about rx-7's and one thing im not really under standing is, from what i understand, the S4 5/6 ports open up using the backpressure from the cats and i read some people saying that taking the cats off will stop them from working. but when i 1st got my S4 the first thing i did was go and get a full straight pipe (starting from the exhaust manifold, no cats or pre-cats) and yet my 5/6 ports still work... at least it feels like they still work because i feel a kick around 4000RPM. so im not sure whats going on with the 5/6 ports. are they supposed ot be working?

There is a split pipe that goes from the ACV to the cats. Without that they are not opening. 4k is just a meaty torqe range.

Whoh, that aint normal. Both of those are supposed to be hooked up to the intake, right in front of the throttle body.

dont think it can be bad drivers since i've raced about 5 of them and beat them all but it doesnt matter now becuz the rear apex seals went and now the car is dead weight in my driveway, ill probably part it out or sell it as a whole (in the process of buying a 87' TII)

If you have a good body now is a good time to consider a TII swap. I can pick up a full seal kit for around 650$ from say atkins rotary and have a fresh motor that will last a long time. If you get a TII your ushaly getting into another used motor. As well Kevin Landers has great prices on rebuilt motors to drop in. Just a few thoughts to consider during this time. Best of luck

so s5 5/6 ports are COMPLETELY controlled by the air pump? so you can change the cat with a straight pipe and they'll still work the same?

yea but i talked to kilo at kilo racing and he told me that to have a cpmplete TII swap (tranny, driveshaft) is alot of work since the tranny crossmember needs to be moved and also need a custom driveshaft. and also im just gonna buy a TII because i hate the maroon interior and the 2+2 i also want a sunroof and a/c (as you kno it gets very hot in florida) so im just probly gonna get the TII and btw the body is good it has no major dents but the car is 3 different colors, will post pics when i get one

Kilo dosent know what hes talking about and has obveusly never done one befor.

You can purchas a drive shaft to convert TII tranny to N/A rear end from cork sports for $300 or you can ushaly find a compleat rear end TII swap from members for around 500$. SonicRat did have one a few months ago he may still have it. Try PM him if you are interested.

The trany cross member and the chasi of the two cars are identical!

Any swap or rebuilt takes alot of work and should only be done buy someone who has proper tools and place to perform the work.

To convert to a stock TII is not that bad. You need the motor compleat with turbo and intercooler. you need a TII ECU or convertable ECU of same year of motor, a TII hood, TII Boost sensor or presur sensor "same thing", TII MAF but not required to run. TII wireharness is not required you can adapt the wireing but does make the job a bit easier. You need to rewire the alternator exciter and temp wire if you use TII harness. a TII TID or make one is required. Thats it from what I can remember. As allways at this point all hoses and fluids should be changed.

But thats if you take this rought. It seems you are not that happy with your model. If thats the case you will be happyer if you get the model you realy want.
