FYI:
Too Rich mixture = High HC and CO. Low NoX
Too Lean mixture - High HC and NoX. Low CO

SmogSux is somewhat correct. If your EGR for some oddball reason is full flowing during idle, it will dilute the mixture so much that it will begin to misfire, causing HC to go up.

ok. well ive been broke so i cant do the cat replacement yet.. but i changed the spark plugs today... well. they were really bad. really worn. the electrodes in the center were pointy. and there were carbon buildup..

but after changing both the plugs and the wires.. my car has a smoother idle. duhh.. i used to have a 4k hesitation. but thats gone.. a suprising amount of more power. and runs cooler.

i was having an issue with my car warming up quite a bit then going back to nominal.. a little below halve.. but yeah..

i will let you guys know what happens after i change the main cat. hopefully it will pass..

Do a complete cooling system check and possibly overhaul if you are having cooling issues. It won't necessarily help for smog, but it will definitely increase the life of the engine.
