Ok, huge vac leak? I think?

After this long drawn out crap, I'm pretty sure I have a major vac leak now. I put a new afm on today and my problem remains the same. (car starts revs to about 2k, then dies out) I just have the AFM hooked up to the tid, no airbox or filter. I had a friend hold the afm flapper open while I started it. voila the car starts and holds idle. but if you let go of the flap the car stalls, it seems like there isnt enough vacuum to hold the flapper open. also if you hold the flapper all the way open the car is able to rev up to redline probably (i only took it up to 4k, new motor hello)

but my main question is, whats the best way to check for vac leaks and where should i be looking? thanks..

I prefer the "spray carb cleaner and listen for idle changes" method. Might be hard since your car isnt idling.

Common areas... INjector grommets (lower), ACV area, vac lines, TB area.

Yea you could try that or try what I did. When I had an idle problem, I wedged a very thin piece of cardboard where the throttle cable was located and kept the idle at about 900rpms. You can spray carb cleaner around or you can use a small steady stream of water over hoses but that is a little messier.
