i would probably look at the adaptronic, people seem to like them and the price is good but i have no experience with them yet so it's all based off of what i have read.

I am looking at the adaptronic 440 I believe .

It seems to stick out above most .

The problem is the ex6 was tuned by Nelson s and I really like his work !

I am in North Dakota and have no idea where to find a decent tuner or even a dyno out here !

Any detailed advice would be appreciated!

you can theoretically export the E6X map to an E8/E11 to a platinum, but chance of success is pretty low. you need to get the crappy windows software to see the crappy DOS file, and then convert it, correctly, and then take that mess and convert it AGAIN to an XP file. i mean we sent a guy to the moon with a slide rule, but a slide rule does the same thing twice in a row without needing a serial port.

old,but not died lol .

im running a e6k on my s4 6port w/holset hx52 right now . i see no reason why you couldnt use the e6x and hit 500hp . yes theres alot of awesome new ecus out there with alot of better features .but people had no problem back when that ecu was new to market and hitting goals like the op wishes to hit . i say to do the rebuild and get it running with the e6x 1st ,everything maybe just fine . . if the ecu isnt capable then buy new and sell the old one ,some one will want it for sure (ecu/harness combo) . im just one of those guys that like old **** i guess lol

a number of tuners won't support it but i believe haltech did finally put the software back up to download. even 5 years ago i couldn't find the software for the first generation haltechs that ran on DOS.

the next issue is many modern laptops don't like DOS at all, some refuse to interact with such a simple platform anymore.

Well compatibility was that it ran on 32bit and the new 64bit computers wouldn't run the software I have a old windows 32 bit for just that reason! And the maps saved in 3 places !

Here's the deal right now it ran with no o2 sensor or boost sensor
Nelson s did the tuning a while back

From what I understand ex6 can't run more then 2 injectors so I have a feeling mine were bridged as I have 4 very large ones
I would like to tune it myself but do not have the knowledge

Also I can't find even a dyno for over 500 miles

Thinking buy the adaptronic get the new engine running on old maps . The engine got ported a little more and 3 additional studs will be using the same hardware for now .

Get it back to LA have ash at Mazda tricks stick in new ecu and have Nelson retune it .

What gains do I have over using a ecu that accepts 4 injectors ?
or boost pessure ?
I also want to put ac back into the car !
And get rid of the bs lucky 7 crap racing belt !

with two injectors you are limited to two id2000 injectors( unless they make bigger now?)
which at 4000cc of fuel is not enough for 500hp. the limit for 4000cc is around 360rwhp.

if it doesnt have a boost sensor, then it probably uses a full range tps for fueling.. having both make for better running...

think of it this way, the old ecu will run richer, and waste more gas then a new system, and the newer will have better drivability... how ever, if your current drivability is like stock with the e6x then hard to argue it can get better then stock.

it's like the old one changes the amount of fuel it injects every 1500 rpm, and the new one changes fuel every 250 rpm. samething for timing.

newer ecu are also tuned alot differently then the older stuff. read up on VE tuning.

better off starting from scratch than to try and convert the maps from the dated system since it will be missing alot of components.

We are not that far from you. You could install that Adaptronic, and trailer it over for dyno tuning.

Or if you are confident in its mechanical setup we can remote tune it. We only tune the Adaptronic brand of ECU, and probably have more experience with it than anyone else on the planet( We do about 3 a week).
