Ok guys this is weird, rear of RX7 wonders??
Ok guys yesterday a friend of mine bought a 1987 RX-7 base model due to a hit and run totaled his nice Honda DelSol after he spent like $10 grands in the car. When I saw the RX7 I thougth it was kind of beat up, it is an automatic but even that for me is actually faster than my vert (auto also) the car has the aluminum hood, the interioir is trashed, it runs kid of OK but when I drove it I noticed that the rear of the car wonders-swings and it needs to be corrected with the steering wheel in order to drive in straight line. I actually thoght the car had a loose wheel but all the wheels were OK. It is very eweeird how the car dances from side to side in the back. We noticed this after my friend got the car so he needs some help from me and I said I'll post it inthe club and see what it is.
Thanks guys in advance and all help is appreciated

One or both lateral links are bad. They have ball joints at each end and are probably loose. Jack the car's rear endl. Grab the front of a tire with your right hand and the rear of the tire with your other hand and shove inboard with one hand and pull outboard with the other. No play allowed.
See the free online manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com go to the chassis or suspension sections.
Most problems of this sort can be figured out by just jacking the car and pushing and shoving at parts and using your eyeballs.

bent something in the rear coupled with something loose.. or just something loose
I would first jack the car up in the rear and jiggle both tires. If they move at ALL then don't drive the car until you get it checked out (it sounds really bad if you have to correct with the steering wheel). I'm guessing it's destroyed wheel bearings (that's my problem on my '90 TurboII).

I actually drove my sister's RX7 in the higway long time ago and the car did the same but not as bad as my friends. This on really swings, yes dude, it has to be corrected with the steering wheel constantly. I have to go and raise the car and check again. I drove today behind him and it is not noticiable from out of the car.
Sounds like the rear steering bushings. One of mine was broke when I first got the car. I jacked the car up and the left rear wheel could be moved around a little from side to side.
Guys looks like is the tires, they are small cheap tires, It'll have to wait until my friend changes tires on it, I actually drove behind him and I couldn't see the rear of the car swinging but it does it. We'll see. Thanks for all the imputs.
