The stock horn from the GM trucks is pretty mean and non-girly sounding. Due to all the dumbass drivers I've been encountering lately, I just bought a 4 trumpet train horn and put on my ****, though. I got to use it tonight when a redneck in a truck pulled out in front of me. Let's just say that he swerved his *** over onto the shoulder when I blew that ****!

I was running those too, untill one of them died. Now I've got a set of 1930's vacuum horns, and they're as loud and deep as any air horn I've heard. They're going on as soon as I can find a vacuum resevoir, as these cars don't really provide much vacuum.

Ha, this was the first mod I made to my car.

From the wreckers I found the biggest, heaviest and oldest Cadillac I could and took the horns from it. The tone was much better, exactly what a Man's Horn should sound like. They bolted up in the stock locations with a little bending on the brackets.

Since I had to move the horns when I put in the FMIC, I then went to a dual trumpet air horn set. Much louder, but the tone was not as good as the Cadillac horns.

My dad's austin-healey had horns that sounded like they came off of a semi. You needed it in a car that small, though.

I just replaced the horns in my '87 GXL. When I started, I didnt realize there was three horns to remove. When I unplugged the first horn and hit the steering wheel and still heard a beep, I dug deeper. In front of the rad, behind a plastic shield were two more.
I went to the wreckers last week and grabbed a dual horn off a '92 Lincoln. I reused a combination of the Mazda bracket and the Lincoln bracket and just plugged the RX7 wires directly on to the Lincoln horns; no splicing.
Before, I was embarrassed to toot my little beep beep. But now it is stronger and deeper but seems softer. I don't mind laying on the horn...I actually enjoy it. ; )

Duke's of Hazard horn, man.

Any horn will work. I bought a generic cheepo horn from Canadian Tire. It sounds much better than the bicycle bell that came on the car, more like a large car's horn.

The horn broke in my '7 but I didn't know for the longest time since I use it about once a month...

The horn did come back for a little while, then it went away for good. I can still hear the relay click when I hit the button. Anybody know what I need to fix?

Train horns or Hella Supertones. Too bad I don't use them enough to worry about them.

Chances are you just need to replace the actual horn. A new horn shouldn't cost very much. You can put 7 or 8 of them on if you like.
It could also just be a bad connection. There should only be a positive wire going to it. Make sure the connection is good and also check where it bolts to the body to see if it has good metal contact for the grounding.
