Well u didn't know this forum is actually a 2nd gen lounge?!, I mean **** only a small handfull of people in this section actually know anything. I find it funny how everyone bitches as you mentioned, if u don't like/know how to work on cars, you shouldn't own a rx-7.

I love my 7 it drives great.
Now if only the check engine light would stop coming on at high rpms
But in all seriousness I love my car and wouldnt trade it for anything. Well maybe for an engine to put into my first gen project car so it wouldnt just have to sit there

What you want, baby I got it!
1986 Base model, did a 5-lug swap for better handling and braking and what not. It's my only car, I've had it for almost a year, and it runs PERFECTLY. Good gas mileage, A/C works, revs like a charm, etc. I also have (apparently) the only remaining nice red interior, as it's in perfect shape.
Come to think of it, though, I don't meet many people like me, who've put miles on a rotary without having to really do much of anything, maybe it's becuase they go overboard with mods? I dunno. In truth though, I really like my car.

I think people just get frustrated sometimes after one thing after another goes wrong and they just get pissed. I know thats happened to me before but never to the point that I would hate my car and want to sell it. But it does get frustrating sometimes, though it is better when you can work on your own car like someone above said. I guess thats why it doesnt get to me that much.

Well, it's not an FC, but I love driving my car. It's only left me stranded once in the year and a half that I've owned it (bad Trottle Position Sensor). It gets expensive at times, but just the thought of selling it hurts.

Why do I own an RX-7?
Well, I fell in love w/the concept of an engine "outside the box." I heard about it from a friend who said "you know, if you want a fast mazda, you should get a RX-7, they have a crazy rotary engine (at the time I drove an MX-6)." SO, I checked into it online and after about 2 months of research and amazement, I set out to buy one. I looked at a few before I chose the one I did. Mainly becuase of the sexy looks of the Series V. The other candidates were a '86 base and a '87 TII. I quickly tried to learn as much as I could about this awesome little car and was plummetted into the abyss of rotary knowlege when the engine let out at 108k miles. I did the rebuild myself and considered myself a rotary god... lol. That is, until I found this forum. I guess it's relly cool having a piece of mechanical history and actually knowing and respecting all the dedication and work that went into these great cars. I have put waaaay too much time and money into this thing, well, too much for a "normal" person -which I am anything BUT.
The best feeling is downshifting on a windy (whine-dee, not win-dee ) road into 3rd and getting a little chirp (yes, it's a N/A) and just feeling the wind through the windows and sunroof glide through your hair. You hear the rotary climb.. 6000, 7000, sings sweetly at 8000 *BUZZ* SHIFT and repeat. The tires remain in contact with the road the entire time and you are on rails as you zoom down this lonely twisted highway. Only you and your machine, together as one. The sun fades and your RX-7 loves every hard corner and high rev. THAT, is the best feeling in the world you can get out of these cars. I don't think I'd have that same feeling in any other car (even a McLaren F1) b/c there is not as much SOUL behind it. I love my car and always will. The sun is set and the stars come out to gaze on the freshly washed and waxed beauty you are driving in and the moon listens in awe as the revs climb even higher. *BUZZ* and you are free!

I love my 7, too. And I don't mind the bitching in this Forum - it's where people come to solve their 7 probs. Just a couple days ago some of us helped a new guy beat his no-start problem. Reading his WOO-HOO! post felt great.
I love how my 7 outperforms nearly everything around it. I love taking on and off ramps at twice (or more) the posted limit and I love merging onto expressways when I'm travelling faster than the traffic and I've still got 200 yards before I can merge.
I love that my 7's a head-turner. And not because she's loud.
I love having a remote-starter in my 7, cuz when I fire her up from a distance (inside a store, from my apt) anyone who's near it jumps and stares at the car cuz it's empty.
I love driving on the 401 late at night at 160km/h and hearing the engine just hum - not struggling at all. No shimmy, no shake, no extra effort to get her to do what I need her to do. My rotary rocket.
And I love that **** on my 7 doesn't mysteriously break at the worst possible moment. Everything on this car has worn out. And 9 times out of 10 I can repair/replace the offending item myself.
I love this ******* car.
