Man i hate all the bitching that goes on lately.

Consider you guys lucky to own such a beast.

I fell in love with 7s in 98...when i was 13 years old, and saw one in a parking lot.

now i'm turning 18 soon...and would give almost anything to own a 7.

i would love to just sit in it.....take it down the road to 8000rpm, shift and do it again. It would be a dream for me.

So consider your self lucky that you own one.
I would give anything just to have one with a blown motor, so that i can at least look at it everyday, even tho it won't run until i fix it up.

If only i could make some money, and get an rx-7.

for now i'd just have to deal with my '99 protege which has a rev limiter at 6800rpm, and power starts dropping off around 6000rpm.... you lucky bast***s

i can't really say much about experiencing the handling....cuz the protege itself has excellent handling....well i'm not really surprised seeing that its a mazda.

and i love the touching words you guys posted above.....just makes me want one even more...

Well, I must have had about 10 RX-7's by now... and all I've ever done is regular maintenace - batteries, tyres, stuff that wears out

I think they are EXCEPTIONALLY reliable if you treat them with some common sense and love them lots

And hardly anything drives as well, or is as much fun.. and NOTHING takes being hammered like a Rotor!

Well, my 1988 GTU is going to be done by the end of this month after spending more than six months in a disreputable state.

I don't really have anything horrible to say about mine. Great handling, nice sound, nice body lines (made even better after the paint and body work is done!), very reliable. After the installation of oil cooler hoses, rear wheel bearings, fresh Red Line trans and rear diff fluids, and some other goodies, it's even better.

Ok, the only things I don't like are the seats and door panel material--that's all. I'm not going to count the stereo being redone since that's a given.

Ya I agree, when I joined this club I thought it was gonna be a bunch of other people who felt passionate about the RX7 and the rotary. I to have seen to many whiners in here, and I started to think that I was out numbered. I see a lot of people complaining about a switch not working or some other stuff. I hear others complaining about the rotary engine and stuff as well. For me I love the rotary, I feel ya it may not quite have the longevity, but on the other hand it does seem quite reliable and trust worthy through out its life span. Some people do not realize there is trade offs for everything. High RPM motors have lower longevity over lower RPM motors. Piston or not. Why do you think diesels can go almost forever? They redline between 2500-3000RPM. I am looking for a car that I can have a good time with. A car that is fin to drive and is agile. A car that can hold its own in a 1/4 mi and yet handle with the best of em on a windy road. I am not rich and the RX7 with its rotary has enabled me that driving experience, which without the RX7 I would not be able to afford.
Another thing people forget to take into acct is how old FCs are getting. I dont know of any performance car that will last 17 years with out needing some work done to keep it on the road. The 93 FD is even 10 yrs old now. I understand car problems are never fun, and never happen when you are financially ready for them. I to need to take a time out now and then, but then realize how much I do love the car and take deep breath, and dig in to fix the problem which has been very few and far between when I think about the punishment it is dealt, and the performance that is being delivered.
Well I am glad to see the passion is still alive with my fellow RX owners. I beg all to remember the age of our FCs along with all most have probably put our cars through. These are and continue to be a great sports car and they still remain very competitve even against modern day sports cars and muscle cars. Personally I still feel my FC is still more technoligically advanced than most new cars. The only way our FCs will die and go away is if we total them in accident, or our passion for the RX7 dies.

Yep, the FC whinnners are a bunch a babies that are looking for us to say, " aww poor baby, you broke your car", when the reason the thing broke was probably because of something they themselves did or didn't do.

I say ban them. Ban them right now. I am tired of hearing from the babies that complain about their car. An RX-7 is too good for these pathetic babies.

I drove my 87 Sport very hard for 10 years before selling it because my wife conviced me we needed a decent sized 4 seater. But after divorcing her I had within 2 years another FC (FDs are just too small for me). A RX-7 gets into your blood... the passion of driving, and for all those babies that complain, they just don't have a clue.

ive had 2 FCs, both 87 T2s. they have both been project cars that "need work" but i have loved them more than any other car ive ever owned/driven. sure it breaks every now and then, but its a project car and its an old car. as long as the car is going to be fun to drive, im going to keep putting my time and money into keeping it on the road. when i hop in it it and turn the key, the instant it fires off and purrs to idle i get this big grin, every time. i slide it into gear and ease off the clutch, give it a little gas and im off. when the motor hasa little temp in it, i start easing into the throttle making boost. the sound of the turbo is enough to give me a warm happy feeling. the BOV hisses and the rear end lights up with fire and im in heaven. i run it up to redline a few times just for the hell of it. the feeling of a smooth surge of power is like no other car. no vibrations, no jumps, just a steady hard pull all the way to redline. and the way the car handles is truly blissful. i find a nice turning road and ill spend hours there, just driving. the brakes, the suspension, the way it turns into a corner...its like poetry in motion. every time i drive my car i love it more. i park it at night and i cant help but look over my shoulder at her as i walk away, smiling the whole time. i love my car, and i may complain about having to fix it when it breaks, but only because i cant drive it when its broken. my car is still in progress but she is still my baby. i love my RX-7.

I have my car over 7 years now and it has never started when I wanted it too and has always brought me home under its own power. Nothing has broken on it and the only money I have put into it is money I felt like putting into it for cosmetic and routine maintance.
Then again I drive the car with respect and do not go molesting the engine with all its vital controls and emissions that make it run so great. I dont care if you gained 7 *** horespowers taking the stuff off either, lol.

I hope you've at least put a bigger exhaust on. Plenty of mods you can do without yanking the emissions sys. Have you thought about a Home Depot cold air box? Poor girl can hardly breathe (and it's almost all hot engine air) with the stock set-up.

Beautiful engine bay, btw.

I love my FC. It's stubborn and moody, but that what makes her mine. Plus, the dogs like it, they can stick their heads out the moonroof, and the puppies all fit under the hatch... One of these days, I will get a picture up of all 10 of them in there...

the second I saw my AE... I knew I had to have it... I sold my first love (85 fiero v6) to get her.
I'll have a motor for it in about a month, and have it on the road mid-april. I can't wait.
Especially considering that it was about a year ago today (roughly) when I first saw her...

Its got a full stainless exaust, compleate with high flow converter and custom simamese y-pipe, Borla XR-1 mufflers but I will be putting the Racing Beat ones in now that they come in stainless.
I refuse to put a so called cold air in, unless you get air from the brake cooling duct or cut a hole in your radiator support it will still take in hot air, you dont think that if Mazda could have just stuck a air filter in the middle of no where they would have instead of making a box?

I love my rx! What car doesnt eventually have problems though? (None so far with mine) And while I dont know how to do everything myself (or a garage ), I love to learn about my car. There is just that extra independance when you learn something new... I have an awsome, different car, AND I can tell you all about it and the things I've done with it. I will always own an RX, I just cant see myself in anything else!

I don't know anything about what Mazda was thinking, or compromising on, when they designed the 7.

But I do know what I see when I look under my hood and I've heard and seen what others have done.

I want to get the most out of my 7 without turning her into a garage queen. A cold air box is a part of that: a few more horses without pushing the reliability envelope too much...

It was meant as a question, not an instruction.

I didnt mean any of that in a flame way,
I just question the function of these things, if someone were to take one with a stock air cleaner assembly with a NEW air cleaner ( key word NEW ), and dyno it, then do a "cold air" set up and dyno it, then I will believe it. Stock it sucks air from right in front of the hood on top of the radiator support, seems to be a bit fresher air there then a air filter in the middle of the engine bay almost on top of the exaust manifold.

My first car was an Rx 7 first gen. My second car was an Rx 7 second gen turbo. I fell in love with my Rx when for 400 bucks i had a car that could eat a v6 mustang. I had so much fun in that car, but that was when i was 16 now i've matured and grown into my s4 t2, now my brain thursts and is intreged by the rotor. I wanna learn more all the time. And i am simply stunned that such supior technology is not being used more often.

But the biggest and greatest thankful feeling i get after a long days work on the car after which comes a good ownage of some local racers and their mustangs, civics, firebirds, ss's, hearing them go "what the f*ck?" "but, how did u....?" "Beat the ...?" "Huh?...." "ahhh...." "whats a?" "rotory.................................?

hahahahahaha i luv it....i luv it
