Arrow Ok 1 thing standing in the way of getting my car running... --i need help

Allright. Here is the deal. When tearing down my engine i didn't take pictures. now it is biting me in the *******. yes in the *******.
I can't figure out what damn plugs on the harness go to what injectors. this is really my only problem. Sombody please let me know what colors go to what injectors and yep then a few hours after me getting that info i should be on the road and ready to go.
I havce worked on ym car all day and got quite a bit accomplished. S4 Block into and S5 car. YES I KNOW IT"S NOT RECCOMENDED, but i'm a poor *** so i gotta make due until i can afford to get my s5 redone.
By the way i searched my *** off for the past hour looking for engine bay pics of an S5 n/a with the UIM removed and with it on. i couldn't find any damn thing because the camera angles are all gay.
I am tired and grumpy but got an idea to make life a hell of a lot easier for people. Make a thread and get it into the archive with multiple pictures of all the series s4's and s5's STOCK from 3 or 4 different angles each. and make sure the pics are good quality then people have a good reference to go by.

I am flacking tired and am going to bed. thanks in advance for helping my stupid *** out,
Matt

I wish I knew for sure.

Why not just plug them in & see how it runs?
If they are swapped, it may run crappy, but it won't hurt anything.

Because i would have to remove the UIM and all the other stuff that goes with it toget at the wires. and i think it'd be a hell of a lot simpler if sombody woul djust look at 1 set of the injectors and let me know. it'd save me an asston of headache.

Just curious--what did you do about the different plugs--you can get the s4 harness from the engine bay through the fire wall and in to the car, but what about the s5 plugs that have to plug into the new s4 ecu or did you adapt the s5 harness to the s4 engine?

It is only the S4 block. everything else is S5 components.

I'm not fully following you, because if you're reusing the "old" harness, the plugs should "lay" about where they go if the main harness is routed properly...

Just in case...On S4's, anyway, the primary injector plug with a green/blue wire in the connector harness goes to the rear primary, and the solid light green wire goes to the front primary...

There are 2 "branches" of injector wires, each with 2 plugs. ONe for primary, one for secondary. ON the primaries, the front primary injector is the plug closest to the green water thermosensor plug. For the secondaries, there is only one way they can hook up..one is shorter than the other.

And yes, they will LAY properly if you give it an opportunity. They've been baked into position for 15 years now, and a few days worth of jostling isn't going to change that.

ok quick question for clarification then. where the water thermo sensor plus in to the waterpump, what injector harness plugs are on the same little harness spider??
I'm at work right now and am 30 miles away form my car. this will be my last question. so thanks for the help and bearing with my dumbass.

Kevin I want your vert. it's too bad i'm a poor bitch. also thanks to you for all of my questions that you've helped me out with and special thanks to your bracket making technique for the auto-5 speed conversion. After finding the correct peice of steel from the local steeyeard it only took me about 20 minutes to finalize the 5 speed tranny install. and the perice of still i got only cost me a whopping 60 cents too. lol

Man you're making this way too hard. They can pretty much only go one way. IF you tried to swap primaries, you'd notice the wires would be all screwed up looking, out of place. You can not swap secondaries (the long leads further toward passengers side), it isnt possible.

Just look at the harness, find the plugs for TPS and OMP, large white plugs. Lay that area right at the thermostat neck. You'll then see that the long secondary leads run over to the passengers side, outside the LIM. Now you'll see the other leads laying inside, under the solenoid rack. It's too simple.

Look at my webpage tech section writeups for tearing down engines, they SHOW an actual engine wired up during disassembly. EDIT: My forking webpage designer has not put the appropriate writeup in place yet. Dammit.
