oil where it shouldnt be.....i think?????

Exclamation oil where it shouldnt be.....i think?????

ok i just got my 89 tII hotme and started looking for the exaust leak, when i noticed an oil/grease substance down the intake tube. it looks like it is coming from one of the tubes that goes into the big rubber intake. any help on this is greatly appeciated.. please dont tell me i just gor bured on this car......

What part of the intake are you calling the intake tube?
I think you may be refering to years of EGR sludge in the intake system, but I can't be sure from your description...

well the part right under the air cleaner. but supposably this is a new moter...jdm

ohh and there is a slight bit of iol residue in the intercooler

no it looks to be a standard paper ait filter. but the tube was reused from the other motor. i dont know what the other motor came with. and yes there is like a very light coating in the intercooer. dont know how much futher it goes. it is extremly light in the intercooler.

Maybe the "old" engine had a catastrophic failure and belched oil into the intake? Or, somebody put a preservative coating on everything? I dunno...

Clean it up, see if it returns...
