Oil Restrictor in Turbo?

Oil Restrictor in Turbo?
I have an S4 turbo that was blowing a lot of oil into the turbine, and after a bit of research on here, came across a reference to an oil pressure restrictor built into the turbo to lower the oil pressure inside the turbo to keep it from blowing past the seals. Does anyone have a picture or a way of inspecting this, or know where in the center housing I could find this? Thanks!

if the turbo is stock and has never been rebuilt then it just doesn't disappear on its own, the turbo can leak oil from several reasons #1 just being from age and abuse. higher boost levels 14psi and higher on an old turbo can cause it to smoke or if you rebuilt the engine and used high pressure oil regulators then the line pressure at the turbo is higher and can be forcing oil past the turbine seal.

IF it's a stock series four turbo it does not get a restrictor. I've had a few apart and never seen one plus I asked this same question on the other forum in the past and the answer is the restrictor is for *modified turbos* or a answer similar to that.
Take the turbo inlet duct off and grab the front of the shaft. It will have miniscule play in it when in good condition. Several thou play when not so good and if bad when the shaft is spun, the blades will touch the surrounding housing.
I am NO turbo knowledgable guy. Just minor turbo knowledge. Basic knowledge type.
Google MAJESTIC TURBO (Waco Texas) on the internet and look at their Trouble shooting page.

Turbo is bad.
Compression ring in the turbine housing is no good.
Even if it's a compressor upgrade, it still uses the stock CHRA...well, at least the turbine side of the "RA".
Other thing you might want to check is that your "PCV" is working or at least vented.

Yea, I have the turbo broken down and am waiting for my rebuild kit to arrive so I can replace everything. Does the compression ring that you speak of come in most rebuild kits... especially the complete T3 kit listed here: http://www.gpopshop.com/garrettt3kits.html
The crankcase is vented, I have run a hose from the nipple on the oil fill neck T'ed with one from the charcoal canister into the intake before the turbo.
So no pictures of the oil restrictor?

The stock hard line that supplies oil to the turbo has a restrictor orifice to control flow.
Its main function is to keep the engine oil pressure from running low due to flowing too much for the pump.
Also, the turbo oil drain line should be a continuous slope to the sump and connect above the oil level.

Ok, thanks for the info and confirmation. The guy I got the turbo from cut the middle section out of the stock line and replaced it with a rubber hose (i have no idea why), but I think i have a stock one off of a bad turbo i bought from someone on here. That might have been part of the problem, but i know the piston ring was pretty messed up when i pulled it apart.

do not order from gpop, I made that mistake. the only thing useable from the t3/t4 kit is the bearings, everything else has different specs and the turbo will not reassemble. you can call jerry once but if you have a problem good luck getting him to pick up the phone again.
order from TurboCity instead

hmm... a little late now, crap. Well, i'll hope for the best, i specifically asked him if it woudl work with the stock HT18S-2S that came on an 88 RX-7, and then described and checked what the seal was on the cold side (T04B compressor was swapped on), and he named the kit, so hopefully they can get it right.
