need help

sorry to do this but ive searched and searched and havent found anything that sounds like my problem. i have an 88 rx7 se. when i first start it it idles up to 3000 rpms then when i hit the gas it goes all the way down and dies if i keep giving it gas it keeps goin down and wanting to die. if i keep gassing it for a while it will finally idle at about 2000 rpms. turned the screw but rpms do not change. car currently is missing all 3 cats due to the last owner expecting them to be bad. when i drive the car it has little power. if anybody could help me id appreciate it. trying to find sumone around here to look at it but no luck. thanx

Vacuum leak (basically, most idle problems that come up on their own are related to vacuum leaks or bad TPS.

Spray around the engine bay with carb cleaner (focus on vacuum lines, injectors and brake booster.)

When engine sound changes, you are warm. Zero in until you can see exactly where the leak is and fix it.

It may also by your tps, test it as per FSM

There is an odd chance that it is really an AFM issue, but I doubt it.

You can clip an ohmmeter in the AFM like you can the TPS to check it.
The AFM's resistance values go up in steps as you work the flap and the sweep goes up then drops off a little near full flow.
What you don't want is drops or spikes between the steps.

I really doubt that, look around for vacuum leaks. I think that you mean the air tube where the air pump pumps air into the cat. This has no effect on the idle that I can think of.
