Oil Pressure Woes
Getting uncomfortable with the oil pressure on my 87 GXL. built the engine about a year ago, stock, used the old bearings, did the mod to the oil pressure relief valve to up the pressure a bit. the one where you crimp the end to push on the spring a little more.
I started out with 40-60 lbs, and 20-25 at idle. It has dwindled to 10lbs. per 1000rpm with a max of 35-40 lbs. and 10lbs at idle.
not running the engine over 4000rpm now, should I be concerned? I drive it to work and back, 88 miles round trip.
I just swapped out the oil filter but made no difference. Any of you guys got any ideas on this? my thoughts are a stuck relief valve, can't really take the time to pull engine and pan and swap out valves.
It's my only vehicle right now so thought I might get an idea from you wizards...

Started with shell rotella t 15-40, then went to valvoline 20w50 racing. No change. Then swapped over to manual gauge. No change. Then went to Valvoline 50wt racing. No change. Pretty sure I've covered all the bases!

Pulled pan today and relief valve. Put relief valve on an old iron and rigged up air and gauge to check it. Leaked out pretty bad until I cleaned it and now it opens at 75psi. So may give it another try.
