Ok the gloves are off! The brakes aren't shitty, by george... just because they are 9.8inch ventilated disks in the front and 10.3 inch solid in the rear and are not sporting 4 piston calipers as oppsed to ventilated front and rears measuring 10.9 for the front and 10.7 for the rear does not make them "shitty". My Rx-7 stops VERY well with these "shitty" brakes. I also have the lsd rear in mine. The ONLY reason I could see swapping to the 5 lug brakes on the Rx-7 is if you are making a strickly track use car only, because you can buy aftermarket 5 lug hub slotted and crossdrilled discs for the car, and the 4 piston calipers will help in braking under "racing" conditions. But for your average daily driver/ street racing car, the swap is pointless and not worth the money or time involved in doing it. (PS smoking both the rears with the 4 lug suspension always makes other rx-7 owners a bit confused.......)

I strongly dissagree I had 4 lug on my car (someone swapped them onto my car) (90 GTU) anyways my brakes no matter how new the pads were SUCKED and stopped like **** I always hated them....when I swapped to my 5 lug setup with the 4 piston caliper brakes it felt sooo much better and then I got the brembo crossdrilled and slotted rotors and stillen metal matrix pads and ss braided lines they stop 100% better than the 4 piston brakes! Sorry Im speaking from experience with both setups not out of my ***...try a 5 lug setup and then talk to me.

uggg...I also have a 88 vert with 5 lug brakes (not in my sig) so lets talk now... Did you ever think to consider the fact that you may have had "Shitty" brake pads on the car? or worn out calipers or your brakes needed to be bled? Jeez It's people like you that have these guys spending money on stuff that isn't really needed in a street car. You have to consider all angles of a situation before you present it as FACT! If you had rebuilt calipers, new brake lines and GOOD quality pads, new fluid i might take what you said as a "fact" but i bet your car had 166k on it and the 4 lug brakes were off a used car obviously a 86-88 model with who knows how many miles on them...
