Oil pressure not showing

For some reason on my car the stock oil pressure isnt being shown. My gauge needle is all the way at the top and wont move. Yes I did try disconnecting it from the sender unit, and I even tried putting in a different one. It still stays all the way up even when the car is off and the key is out. Any ideas?

odd, it should be at the bottom with the key off, sounds like your gauge bit it.

the gauge will topout when the sender wire is grounded. The sender wire is probably ground shorting someplace.

Thanks guys, I fixed it. What happend was my sender unit got smashed in during the engine swap and probably grounded the signal. This caused my guage to shoot up and it stayed there long enough that it got stuck. I replaced the sender and pushed the needle down and everything is A ok.

makes sense, the gauge should drop when the ingition is shut off, as Kenteth said it will top out if the circuit is grounded but with the key off it should drop but if the gauge was stuck then that would explain it.
