Oil Pressure, low??

I've searched and seen that there are a few other people out there with the same problem as me...

@idle = 15 lb/in <--- i idle @ 750
@3,000 = 45 lb/in

This is much lower than the stated pressures in the FSM.
@idle = 30 lb/in, @3,000 = 60 lb/in

All the other threads didnt have a clear cut answer...

The thing is part of the OEM mazda oil pan gasket came right off when I was checking to see where my oil leak was coming from.

So, My question is could that be the cause of pressure loss?

Thanks
Jahan

There is a FAQ on the mazdatrix site that addresses this problem. It COULD be your problem, or it COULD not be.

here is the writeup.

thanks for the quick reply, but im not sure if the front housing has ever been replaced, and it sounds quite expensive to have a shop replace it.

So, i guess my question is will the lower oil pressure really hurt my engine to any severe degree??
