oil pressure gauge hook up

Hey guys,

So the previos owner said he had a aftermarket oil pressure gauge hooked up and then removed it. And he never hooked back the stock gauge.

Now i would like to get the stock one to work but i dont know how to go about it. or is it easier to hook up an aftermarket one? I dont know how to do that but i'm willing to learn.

But what should i look for to get the stock one to work. thats what i would prefer..

the stock oil psi sensor is a one wire unit with a slip on connector, it attaches to the nail head looking part on the stock unit, its mounted underneath the stock location oil filter pedestal. the wire feeds to the gauge cluster, and to the ecu as well.

most after market sensors will require at least a 2 inch spacer to fit in the stock location.

im not gonna hold your hand bro, chances are most people will not remove the stock wireing.

so id say its good chance the wires there. the wire is above the starter and below the brake booster, start by looking next to the fuel filter, it should be white or yellow or both colors.your stock oil pressure unit will be a shiny gold brown color with a pin that looks like a nail head.

Pressure sensor unit, Page D4, third illustration down. The slide on connector (slides on the top of the sensor onto what looks like a nail head) wire should be hanging somewhere in the same general area as where you see the pressure sensor mounts.

yes, number 8 is the sending unit. the wire is usually yellow, IIRC it might have a red stripe.

I don't believe the ECU gets any signal from the pressure sensor.
