The needle should drop down when the car is off... there is no oil pressure.

How far down?

Like at far down? ^^ If so, either someone messed with the needle on the gauge or the gauge failed like mine has.

look into the autometer ES series of gauges. you should be able to get a mechanical oil psi gauge, and a cup, or mounting bracket for $60 or so shipped form jegs.com, or summit.

autometer makes great quality, and reliable gauges. the ES series if gauges match the FC interior (black face, red numbers/needle, and light up red at night.

I simply replaced mine with a Autometer gauge. Cost was about $50 total for the gauge and Re-Speed adapter. But if you can replace the stock gauge by taking your cluster apart and replace it if a working gauge pack, or just readjust the needle on the gauge since you say it still works. Either way will take about the same amount of time to complete.
