Exclamation Oil pressure concern!

Oil pressure concern!

Ok at idle which is about 500 RPM the oil pressure gauge is reading in between 0 PSI and 30 PSI.

At 2 grand it’s reading in between 30 PSI and 60 PSI.

At 3 grand and up it’s reading a smidgen below 60 PSI to a smidgen above 60 PSI.

Is that what It should be?

The idle is my main worry.

Oh and on another note any one know why my alternator belt is squealing in first gear from 5500 RPM’s on up but doesn’t in every other gear?

Thank you for any info or ideas you can provide me with.

When you're in first your revs are going up faster than they would in any other gear, which explains the squealing in first. First try tightening the belt if you havent already, if that doesnt work you could try replacing it (its only a few bucks). If you dont have an airpump, you might want to consider getting a dual pulley for the alt (best option), or switching to an electric fan (which would take a lot of load off of the belt by removing the clutch fan).

500 idle is too low.

Get an FSM it's free to download and it has the answers to your questions.

Get an aftermarket gauge to make sure about the readings, the stock gauges tend to crap out if they get really old.
