At random, apparently, sometimes my gauge will be at zero, and then hop back up to mid range. Whassa deal?

I had that problem.
It was a loose wire on the sending unit.
Pull the wire off, clean the contact point with some sandpaper and you should be fine.

Make sure the oil pressure sender capacitor is secure.&nbsp This little black plastic box the size of a "piece of gum" is normally secure on one of the bolts on the clutch slave cylinder.&nbsp During clutch jobs or engine/trans removals, these things are almost always forgotten and not secured.

Well, then. More loose wires.

When I get new gauges, I'll fix it. Until then, *slaps car* She'll be fine.
