Oil pellet bolt owned me last night. LOL

I took a 450 ft lb hammering torque gun to the bolt and it just laughed at me. I thought about it and figured leverage is way much better then a torque gun. I used my big rachet and a wrench to extend my leverage and it popped off in like 2 seconds. Take that biatch!

Lol, I just went through this too...made a 6' 1x4 with holes for 2 of the flywheel/pressure plate bolts & dowel locations (keeps the engine from rolling around on the ground), plus the handy-dandy flywheel locking tool from Mazdatrix, and STILL had to hop on the 2 1/2 foot breaker bar....95 ft/lbs with locktite & 1" worth of thread contact surface equals about 500 ft/lbs!!!

Atleast you dint have your jack fail, have the car come flying down, and launch a 17mm end wrench 6 inches from your head into the wall.

Thank god I wasent under there.....

get a 1/2" drive breaker bar & a deep well socket (mine's 22mm), lug nut problems will be a thing of the past...

If theengine is still on the car, a breaker bar against the chassis or floor + cranking the engine (remove spark plugs cable) = Teh best\no sweat

It's only $22 at Mazdatrix- then you'll have one for all the future engine pulls/ teardowns too

I'll sell you the mazda trix flywheel stop bar. I bought it and realised how much easier it turned out to be (for me) to use a crowbar pinched between the flywheel and cement.

make an offer, but its gotta be over shipping which will be like $10 prolly

EDIT:

Its above the driveshaft. I think it got covered in floordry and thats what the whitestuff is-- should wipe right off and the paint should still look relatively new. (bought last fall, never used it-- just too it out of the packaging)

come to think of it, I think we used our hands to hold the flywheel while we air-gunned the nut off... I'll have to ask ed when he gets back to see if he remembers

If you use a metal bar or something to wedge into the flywheel, isn't there a risk of doing damage to the teeth on the flywheel?

heat that nut up with a little fire and it will pop right off with an impact wrench.

Hmmm...how about a torque wrench, the tube off a floor jack for leverage and someone in the car with the brake on
