oil pedestal o ring
i'm attempting to replace the o rings in my oil pedestal. i got off the one on the alternator side in about 2 minutes, the one on the firewall side has taken me the last hour and a half and it's not off yet. it feel like it's moving but when i run my fingers over the portion of the bolt that's protruding it doesn't seem to have diminished at all. am i doing something wrong or is this nut just a pain in the ***. thanks for the help. i'd really like to get it all done by 3 if possible

i think the damn thing may be stripped now, i just tried to tighten it just to see if i was even getting anywhere and it wouldn't budge. is it possible for a nut to strip one way and work the other?

Are you sure you arent turning the nut with the stud as well? This happened to me before. Just keep working at it. Try using a wrench to get it a little loose and then just grab a 10mm socket without the ratchet driver to speed things up. Keep going back to the wrench until you can just use the socket by hand.

I don't know why everyone has so much trouble with the pedistals, it took me all of ten minutes to swap my stocker for the FC3S.org one... and that was working slow.

if this would've gone the way of the first it would've taken me ten minutes as well. there's not enough room for a socket to fit over the nut, it's quite a pain in the ***

i'm about at that point right now, i have to wait til my step dad gets home, then i'm going to check if i'm turning the bolt along w the nut, how much did that ratchet cost you btw

I remove the oil filter for a bit more room. Then I took a 10mm Craftsman box/open end wrench and cut it in half so I would have room to swing the wrench back and forth without hitting obstructions. I've also used a 10mm socket......a couple of long extensions and universal and done the rear nut from under the car. I prefer the hacked up craftsman. Loosen nut and spin off with the fingers.

well the damn bolt ended up being stripped so i had to bust out the power drill and drill through the boss and the stud. Thanks for all the help though guys, guess there's no solution for people who had the car before knowing how to tighten a damn nut. thanks again
