oil metering Pumps

I need some info on oil metering pumps. Im putting a 90 13bt into my 1st gen and I have to use a GSL SE front cover which uses the same metering pump as the 86 to 88 non turbo so i can no longer use the electronic pump. Ive noticed that the 86 to 88 turbo and non turbo cars have different part numbers for there pump. Does anyone know what the differeces are? Does the turbo one pump more oil than the non turbo one? I have not seen the 86 to 88 turbo pump is it a completly different style and not mount up to the NA front cover? I have a 87na pump and would like to use it but Im assuming that it will not flow enough oil. Also does anyone have a pic of how the 86-88 turbo OMP rod reaches the throtle body linkage?

The TII oil pump is supposed to deliver more oil, particularly at wider throttle openings. However the pumps are physically interchangeable,ie they are the same installation on the front cover.I don't have the picture you need.

Have you considered running PREMIX?...you can just delete the OMP and just add PREMIX whenever you gas. Also OMP are known to fail and cause engine failure. What do you think???

The 86-88 N/A and TII OMP's (or more correctly MOP - Metering Oil Pump) are the same. The same goes with the 89+ N/A and TII pumps, but they are electronic. The electronic ones seem to go bad over time, and usually go for $50-$150 on the partstrader, or for about $1100 new from the dealer. I would recommend gutting the OMP out of the front cover, and running premix at a ratio of 1oz of premix (2-cycle oil) to every 4-5 gallons of fuel. Or if you like the ease of using the stock pump, the 87 N/A one you have will be fine.

Thanx DAVE!..i've been waiting for you to give this topic a more detailed explanation!..

I agree with DAVE!..just delete the MOP and block it off with aluminum block off plate. Then run PREMIX. Im gonna do this to my 87TII!..

Remember that since the 86-88 OMPs are mechanical, they have to be controlled by an arm attatched to the throttle body. You might be able to use an 86-88 throttle body so that you dont have to fabricate anything, and so that you know it works as it is supposed to, but you would probably have to bend the rod a little to get it to fit right.
