ok let me clarify the information,
front covers will fit on either series s4 or s5,
however a s4 OMP will only fit on a s4 front cover, and a s5 omp will only fit on a s5 front cover.
basicly the omp series must match the front cover series, or the bolts will not line up ( i belive a s5 omp has 3 bolts and a s4 has 2 bolts)

the s5 omp will fit the s4 motor if you swap the s5 front cover onto it. Basically, the omp MUST match the car series. The s5 omp is run by the s5 ECU, and wont work with the s4 ECU. The s4 omp is mechanical is is run by a rod that connects to the s4 TB. The s4 TB will not work on the s5 engine since the s4 TPS is not compatible with the s5 wiring/electonics and you can't switch the s5 TPS to the s4 TB.
So in short, use the front cover/omp that matches the car body it is going into.

what does the body have to do with the front cover though? if you have a complete swap, motor(all manifolds, tbs, ecu, wireing harness etc.) theres no problem correct? thats what im trying to ask

If you're going from an s4 motor, in an s4 car, to an s5 motor in the s4 car, and the s5 motor is a long block, just drop the engine in. Get a wiring harness for the s5, and plug it right in. Have the ECU control the electronic omp from the S5.
I hope that answered your question.

thanks, thats exactly what i wanted to know, when i read you had to switch out the covers it was worded to make me think that even if your droping the long block in you need to switch covers. However i have a complete s5 motor everything on it, and the s5 ecu and wireing harness, so i was a bit confussed
thank you everybody, sorry about the mix up and all
