Oil Metering Pump...

Got a question about the Oil Metering Pump.

Does it have seperate lines for each rotor (assuming it delivers the oil through lines) or how does it get the oil into the engine? I understand that it is what injects oil into the housings for lubrication. Is it possible that if not functioning correctly it could be injecting less for one of the rotors over the other? And the lack of oil causes compression to drop I know that, so that could in turn give you the illusion of having a toasted engine right? Or am I way off on this? I don't know anything about the OMP so I am trying to learn about it and how it works and stuff. Thanks in advance.

There are 4 lines. 2 for each rotor housing. '86-88 are mech oil pump and '89-91 are electronic controlled.
How much oil depends on throttle input. If you ever saw an oil injector, you would religiously change your oil.
The holes on the housings are very small, about the size of a toothpick. That is why oil changes are important from getting crud plugging up the holes. That is why pre-mix is important.

How would I go about cleaning the lines and holes from the OMP? Is it easy to get to with engine in the car without jacking it up or anything? Or would running some premix through it help clean them out a bit? What can I do to clean them out? Oh, and anyone know how long of a job that should be? Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

If you haven't taken off your intake manifod or you're don't have proper tools, I'd suggest someone help you .
For first timers, it's a pain in the *** to do. OMP is pumped through the oil system . If you suspect it is clogged, you can pull it out and run some carb cleaner through the lines . It's easier said than done. You will be pulling off a lot of parts to get to it. I don't know of anything out there that cleans the oil system. Just change your oil regularly. What some do is run premix and OMP together. I totally disabled the OMP and use 1:1 (1 oz to 1 gallon fuel).
Premix is run through the fuel system. You pour it into your gas tank. The OMP and fuel system is independent of each other. Anyone who buys a used car should *ALWAYS* change all fluids. It's cheap and easy.

Alright...well I will probably run some premix through it then, can only drive the car on my road though since no insurance on it. And I can probably get some help on cleaning the OMP system and such, I got the time to do it and ability if I just take my time and make sure I do everything carefully. Thanks for the info, hopefully this will help my car out.
