Oil lines and the Rod Run
So, Bill Jr and I went down to Daytona yesterday in the vert for the Turkey Rod Run. When we got down there we pulled into a Mc D's for a bathroom break, and noticed a burning oil smell. Popped the hood and looked at the exhaust, no oil leaking. Looked over the engine, checked the clear oil tubes, no leak. Happened to look down and noticed wet oil seepage on the bottom pan below the battery and the oil cooler lines. Was not a puddle, so I figured we weren't losing oil fast enough to be dangerous, but quick enough to keep an eye on it. So we hit the show and wandered around for a while.
THey had a portable dyno setup on a car trailer and for $50, you could pull your car on it and see what she run, 2 pulls. There is a place here that has built a serious Ford GT and they pulled it up on the dyno and it put over 1170hp and 1000 lbsft to the pavement- er, rollers.
You can see the a vid here of the car: Stage6motorsports.com
Well, I know that after that, my NA 13B just wasn't serious enough contender to compete with that, (read: I didn't want to shell out the $50.oo , lol) so I didn't put it up.
After the raffle car give away, we cruised down to A1A to see the cars and burnouts. Unfortunately, I saw exactly 0 other RX7's the whole day. I was saddened. Such a great car and not one did I see.
Well we got home about 12:30am and found that we had lost about 1 1/2 qts of oil, so I guess I gotta get out the pressure washer and clean the hoses off real good and see where it is leaking from.
Do these have a habit of leaking? Hope it wont be a too costly fix.
Missed you all yesterday,
Later,
Bill
