Question oil leak, oil filter? 86 NT RX

Hey folks, I have a oil leak that is by the oil pressure hose but I know for sure that is not it since it has been changed. I think the oil is leaking from either the oil filter or oil pressure sensor and leaking down the side of the engine giving it the impression the oil hose is leaking. My question is what kind of filter works best with an 86 NA ? I have an stp currently and used a phram filter prior to that. I'm not sure if the seal is not making or not. The oil is only leaking when the car is running. Any idea's here? Has any body else had this kind of leak there? I will be looking into this tonight.....

Probably the oil pedistal O rings, but it could be the crappy oil filters you are using as well.

What pedistal O Ring are you refering to. Are you talking about the oil pressure gasket?

There are two oil filter pedestal O rings that tend to leak after 100K miles.

They are between the oil filter mount and the oil filter pedestal.

They're easy to get at the dealer, if that's what's you mean, but actually replacing them on the engine involves some contortionist-like moves for your hands and wrists. I did mine last month. There are 2 10mm nuts underneath the pedestal which are tough to get at. You need a short box wrench to do it easily, but a regular will work - It just takes longer 'cause you can't turn it as much. First remove the filter, and then go at the nuts.

Hey guys, thanks for the help. I replaced the two O rings and the leak is gone. The dealer had the O rings and charged $9.50 for two pieces that probaby cost 25 cents each....

The dealer charged me $7.50. I almost swallowed my tongue. It's worth it, though, not to have that oil leak.
