my 7 had oil leaks in 3 places when i got it,

1.)at first i only saw 1, and it was around where the oil filter was, so i replaced 2 little o-rings abd its all well and good....

2.)i found one around the OMP so i am gonna replace the two seals on that

3.)now here is the third and i dont knwo what it is....i found a leak, and it looked like it was coming from the drivers side of the radiator, well upon closer inspection i opened the jhood, removed the two plastic shields situated near the coolant overflow tank and boom there it was, in front of the radiator and down towards the bottom of the car i found somehitng that i can only assume is a oil cooler....on the top of this there is a sensor or threaded object which is on the right(or drivers side) the oil is leaking from there and at a pretty slow, but steady, rate why would oil be leaking from there?? what is it leaking from ? a oil cooler?? and how would i go about fixing that??

Hi crossbar, your right that is your oil intercooler. I have a 87 non-turbo and it has 2 hoses going to it. they are sealed with brass washers. Then there is a plug I believe on the bottom which is a internal pressure relief or regulator of some sort. I can't remember if that has a brass washer or not. Look at your intercoler again and see if this is similar to what you have. What year is yours? Gary

 

mine os a 88 and is leaking off the top right i believe....

check your oil cooler lines. I had the same problem recently and thats what it turned out to be in my situation. Goodluck

 

What about an oil leak down the front of the engine? I thought it was from my filler cap, but I just got a new billet Rotary cap.
Then I thought it was from the hose that comes out of the filler neck, so I clamped that one too.
I am going to replace the washers on the oil filter plate very soon too.

Now it is still losing oil somewhere, and my oil cap seems to smell like gas also. Is it because I am running too rich? What would be causing that to happen?
