Oil injectors leaking?

I took my car (86 GXL) to my friends shop to see if he could help me firgure out why I am burning oil. I was thinking it was the oil seals or side seals, but I have good compresion and sometimes I don't blow smoke. When he started looking at my car he noticed that it was leaking air somewhere near the intake manifold near the oil injectors (maybe vacuum line or something). He suggested that it might be leaking oil from the injectors or they may be malfunctioning somehow and that it was worth a try to see before I go and overhaul the motor. The other thing is I gutted my cats which i think contributed to the oil burning problem by messing up the back pressure or the vacuum lines or something like that.

So anyway I was wondering if anyone has ever had there oil injectors work improperly like leaking or over injecting causing oil to burn?

What else should I do or check while the intake manifold is off? My six port actuators are not working could this aid the smoking problem?

I had a problem on my 83 where the lines from the OMP were bad, and the resulting oil spill ran around the side of the motor to the exhaust manifold (end result, lots of smoke and 1 fire). So ya its possible I guess.

Read this post https://www.rx7club.com/vforums/show...threadid=24652 and look for the answer to it by Irv, the father of Keith. You can test the injectors by taking them out and blowing thru the nipple. Air should pass thru. Now suck on the nipple. You should have a vacuum and therefore not suck air. The vacuum hose on the top of the injector is to equalize the pressure. Keith explains it real good.

Today I took off my intake manifold and took a look at all the oil injecting stuff. Guess what when I tested my oil nipples to see if they only let air pass one way I found one that was bad it lets air go both ways! When air can pass both ways through the nipples does this throw off the vacuum causing more oil to be pulled into the manifold (causing the clouds of smoke)? This would explain why I get more smoke at higher rpms the vacuum pressure drops letting more oil out, right? Have I found my smoing problem, I hope so!

Thanks, Ed
