Oil filler neck...

I guess mine warped over the years cause i cant seem to get a cap to stay on it. i tried plenty of caps and they all did the same thing, they would feel like they were getting tight than pop loose. i tried tightening it to that "right before it comes off" spot and it would just pop off under load.

SO, i ordered a new filler neck from Mazda, put a new cap on it and BAM, locks perfectly.

My question is, how the hell do i get the old one out? from looking at the new one, it just has a small bracket on the side and the bottom looks like it is just pressed in. i undid that bolt on the side and tried twisting/pulling and not even a budge. i was afraid to try excessive force cause i didnt want to damage anything and than not being able to get the new one in snug.

any suggestions would DEF be appreciated.

OR try to bend the metal 'threads' on the new neck to match the threads on the old neck still attached.
Wonder how it can be 'pressed' back in without a press without doing damage and possible leakage.

smack it on the sides a bunch of times till it comes toose, or a big monkey wrench or a big pair of vice grips with a hammer?

Put a big *** plier around the neck, and hit the plier jaws near the neck. You have the bracket for the wires noted, but don't forget the hose attached to the nipple on the rear side near the bottom of the neck.

I just did this..depending on whether it is an N/A or TII filler neck..the N/A neck, clamp onto it with Vice Grips and Smack them while pulling up..The TII Neck, you can hit in More areas than the Straight N/a Neck,.Try a Rubber Mallet..and YES they do just "push" back into Place.(like a compression type fit..Snug Pipe in a Hole).
