oil cooler thermal bypass

Anybody know how to modify it, so that oil flows at ALL times thru the oil cooler?

It really is simple. Just make that little pin plug the hole in the endtank so that oil is forced to go through the cooler. I guess you could use washers. Or you could get a metal pin and weld it to the big nut that goes on the end tank. The metal pin would then block the hole so the oil goes thru the cooler.

Exactly why do you want to do this?

If you are having cooling issues I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

What are your problems?

The thermal valve opens a bypass around the oil cooler until the oil gets to ~150degF so the engine gets up to operating temp quicker. It shouldn't be permanently removed.

Take it out and test it as per the instuctions in the FSM on page D-14. If it works normally, that's not you're problem. If it doesn't, replace it.
