Oil cooler lines

I'm installing a 13b-re with racing beat AN style oil cooler lines, is it ok to run the lines to the oil cooler backwards?

I just can't seem to get the rear line to reach, and its really close, if it where on top then it would be about perfect.
The only thing that would change would be the direction of the oil in the cooler, stock it runs from the top down, it seems like running it from the bottom up would result in less foaming.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,,

have you tried to install the rear line starting from the engine side? I think i heard thats the only way to do it, but it may not apply to your 13b-re

The difference is that the rear line outputs under the oil filter, The line would defanitly make it if I wasn't trying to keep my A/C, but routed as best as I can get I am still about an inch short.

The guy who awnsered the phone at mazdatrix where I bought the lines said it shouldn't be a problem, but he said they only run them backwards sometimes when istalling 2 coolers, so it wouldn't be as big of an issue.

I don't see anything wrong with it, I remember there being a gate or something in the oil cooler (I could be wrong), that's the only thing that might give you problems in reverse, if like the oil would push the gate open going the other way or something.

There is a thermostat in the oil cooler, that causes the oil to bypass from line to line before the engine is up to temprature.

If anyone else has any experience or knowledge with running the oil cooler lines in reverse, please post.
