Oil Cooler Hose replacement questions

My Oil Outlet Hose has a leak, so I plan to replace them with SS braided hoses from Mazdatrix. I've never done this before so I have some questions:

1. Should I remove the Oil Cooler first, so I can better access the Banjo Bolts?

2. Do I need a special tool to remove the Banjo Bolts or will a 21mm(?) wrench work?

3. I can see how both Oil Hoses connect to the Oil Cooler (e.g. - Banjo Bolts/Connectors) but how are the braided hoses attached to the hard lines. It looks like the hose terminates into a metal connector or cap - do they just screw out? I don't want to take everything apart to find out, until I get the replacement hoses in - but here's a pic of what I'm talking about:

4. Is this a relatively easy job? The local Rx-7 mechanic quoted about $500-600 for parts and labor which sounded like a rip to me considering parts should be under $200.

5. Oh yeah, I'm also getting a squealing noise (sounds like a belt) everytime I take off from a complete stop. Only happens in 1st... is this something I should worry about?

1. you can do it either way, i left mine on and just made sure that i didn't torque the oil cooler when replacing the lines.

2. no

3. I'm not sure, but then you get your replacements you won't have a part SS/ part pipe setup. it will be SS with two connectors.

4. it's not too difficult and can be done in a couple of hours. i would say the hardest part is taking the old fittings off. definately not worth spending $500-600.

5. IMO, you probably have a loose belt. of course, another possiblity is that some of the leaking oil could have gotten on a belt too.

hope that helps.
