Well the best way to get to it is in front of the radiator, you have to take those two plastic pieces off from right behind the bunper. They are held on by those little plastic screw's that usually break so be carful with them. Once you get that off the oil cooler is the first radiator, I'm sure that you know that but once you get to looking at it I would go buy some oven cleaner and spray it. And let it sit make sure to get the easy-off over cleaner that stuff is great and very strong. Once you spray it on just let it sit for a little while and then spray it off with a hose. Make sure to get all off it off of the car, that stuff will eat off paint if you let it sit for to long.

Well if you want to you can use gunk engine cleaner but you might actually have to scrub, With oven cleaner ther is no scrubbing. I suppose you could try brake cleaner, or the other things that you listed none of them should hurt it, but maybe the muratic acid. I don't really know what that is but it sounds like somthing that eats off skin.

Oven cleaner will eat skin

And you can get it at practically any store that has cleaning supplies. The oil cooler is not something you want to scrub.
