Oil & Coolant Dye ok?
I searched and it appears they are ok to use but thought I'd throw this out for comment. Are both oil and coolant dyes ok to use without detrimental consequences to the rotary? I ask because my new A/C compressor voids the warranty if dyes are used in it. So I wonder why? The dyes I got are specific for oil and coolant. Any consequences I should be aware of? Do i need to drain oil and coolant after use? Instructions of the dye were vague. Thanks.....

I understand the need for refrigerant dyes because it's pretty damn hard finding a leak in a system where the liquid turns immediately to gas once it hits atmospheric pressure, but why would you even want to use oil and coolant dyes anyways? Finding oil and coolant leaks are super easy.
Never having used an oil or coolant dye before, I have no data on whether it is, or is not harmful to engines, particularly rotaries. Some companies will make some ridiculous requirements for their parts to get warrantied, which is probably why they say UV dye will void it. Most shops will put a UV dye in the system in the event that it comes back later for a leak. It just makes things easier for them. I assume it's just that it's such a common practice to do so that they can blame the failure of the part on the dye, then reject the warranty.
Or, maybe UV dye does have some sort of harmful effect on AC systems. I doubt it, but I guess anything's possible.

I think Agreen is right it's just a way to cover their butts heck you can buy refrigerant with dye's already in them , also when adding refrigerant at home lots of people over do it and that is hard on a compressor they produce too much pressure and sometimes you can even hear them start to knock . Dye in the cooling or oil you bad boy.

The engine is clean because I rebuilt it and its been operational for about 2000 miles. Runs great but I loose about 1/8 inch (1/8 inch drop) of coolant in the overflow bottle every month. I mark it and monitor it and it drops slowly. No leaks can be found anywhere.

It's more like 1/8 inch loss every couple weeks vs every month for my 90 RX7. I forgot I alternate usage every two weeks with my 88 RX7 and Probe. My 88 RX7 doesn't lose any so that's why I initially became alarmed. I'll keep monitoring the 90'. Thanks for the inputs!
